Although Spin magazine called Neko Case "one of pop music's best" voices, she claims no particular musical genre. Her early exposure was to country and gospel, and she's made her mark in everything from punk to pop, in groups—including the New Pornographers—and solo. She calls Tacoma, WA home, where she taught herself to sing and to play guitar and other instruments, but began her musical career in Canada. "Middle Cyclone" is her first release since '06's critically acclaimed "Fox Confessor Brings the Flood."
