House Majority Leader Rep. Steny Hoyer reacts to the president's State of the Union address. Animation pioneer John Lasseter reflects on winning a Golden Globe and receiving two Oscar nods for the film, Cars.
Rep. Steny Hoyer
Rep. Steny Hoyer was elected to represent Maryland's 5th Congressional District in '81. As House Majority Leader, he's the highest-ranking member of Congress in Maryland history. Hoyer was the lead House sponsor of the Help America Vote Act and sponsored the Americans with Disabilities Act. He previously served in the state senate, where he was the youngest president in state history. Hoyer is a respected voice on national and international issues and has been honored for his epilepsy research advocacy.
John Lasseter
John Lasseter continues to earn kudos for his pioneering animation talent. The award-winning director's credits include the history-making feature-length computer animated film, Toy Story, A Bug's Life and Carsóa recent Golden Globe winner in the new best animated feature category. Lasseter loved hand-drawn animation as a child and honed his craft at California Institute of the Arts and at Disney. As chief creative officer at Pixar, he has used computer graphics technology to transform animation.
