UCLA professor Mike Rose assesses the state of the American worker. Actor Eric Braeden reflects on his experience in receiving a star of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Mike Rose
Mike Rose is a professor at the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies and a nationally recognized expert on language and literacy. He's also an award-winning author of several books, including Lives on the Boundary and The Mind at Work. Rose is noted for his insights into the struggles of working-class America. Over the years, he has taught writing to underprivileged students in inner-city L.A. and basic adult literacy, and shaped tutor training and policy at UCLA's tutoring center.
Eric Braeden
Known for his long-running role on CBS' The Young and the Restless, Emmy-winning actor Eric Braeden also performs on stage and in films, including the indie Western, The Man Who Came Back—which he also exec produced. Born in Germany, he immigrated to the U.S. as a teen, became a naturalized citizen during college and holds dual citizenship. In '89, Braeden was the only actor on the then-newly-formed German American Advisory Board and has been honored by the German and Israeli governments for his efforts in advancing German-Jewish dialogue.
