Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Thomas Ricks updates his book on Iraq, Fiasco. Oscar-winning filmmaker Paul Haggis wants the audiences for his new film, In the Valley of Elah, to ask the tough questions about the Iraq war.
Thomas Ricks
Journalist Thomas Ricks is often called the "dean" of America's military correspondents. He's been on two Pulitzer Prize-winning teams for national reporting—with The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal—and is a contributing editor of Foreign Policy magazine. He's also a senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security, a bipartisan think tank. Ricks is a best-selling author, with titles that include Fiasco and The Gamble. The Massachusetts native grew up in New York and Afghanistan and is a Yale grad.
Paul Haggis
Paul Haggis made Academy Award history as the first person to write back-to-back Best Film Oscar winners (Million Dollar Baby and Crash). A native of Canada, he spent his early career writing, producing and directing TV series, such as the sitcoms Diff'rent Strokes and The Facts of Life and the dramas thirtysomething and EZ Street. Haggis' newest film, In the Valley of Elah—which he wrote, directed and produced—is a suspenseful commentary on how society treats military veterans and their families.
