Kali Akuno
A longtime community organizer, Kali Akuno is executive director of the People's Hurricane Relief Fund and Oversight Coalition and director of the Stop the Demolition Coalition. He is calling for action opposing HUD's plans to tear down four major public housing developments in New Orleans. Akuno previously worked with the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement and founded and directed the Oakland, CA-based School of Social Justice and Community Development.
Sen. Dick Durbin
In '06, Time magazine listed Sen. Dick Durbin as one of the America's 10 Best Senators. He's Illinois' senior senator and Senate Majority Whip—that body's second highest ranking position. He sits on the Appropriations and Judiciary committees and is the founding member of the Senate Global AIDS Caucus. Durbin previously served seven terms as congressman and as legal counsel to the Illinois lieutenant governor and the state senate Judiciary Committee. He holds a J.D. from Georgetown University.
Cesar Millan
With an uncanny gift for communicating with canines, Cesar Millan has been called "a Dr. Phil for dogs." He captured the national spotlight with his National Geographic Channel series, Dog Whisperer, and now has a star-studded client list. Born and raised in Mexico, Millan went to Hollywood to follow his dream of being a dog trainer. Once there, he changed his career goal to that of rehabilitating troubled dogs. His new book, Be the Pack Leader, is a follow-up to his best-selling Cesar's Way.
