Newsweek senior editor Jonathan Alter analyzes Sen. Clinton's victory in the Pennsylvania Democratic primary. Tony- and Oscar-winning actress Judi Dench, star of the Masterpiece Classic miniseries Cranford, discusses what Shakespeare's work means to her career.
Jonathan Alter
As Newsweek senior editor, Jonathan Alter helps shape the magazine's news coverage. In addition, he writes an acclaimed column that examines politics, media and social and global issues. He's also a correspondent for NBC News, where he appears regularly on various broadcasts. Alter has covered the last six presidential campaigns, and his book, The Defining Moment, looks at the crucial period of time when a new leader takes office. A native of Chicago, Alter holds a degree in history from Harvard.
Judi Dench
A long-revered stage and screen star in her native England, Tony- and Oscar-winning thespian Dame Judi Dench is known for playing strong-willed women in positions of authority. She began her career on the stage and is equally adept at comedy and the classics. She's earned critical acclaim and award nominations too numerous to list. Dench can be seen in PBS' Masterpiece Classic three-part miniseries, Cranford, and is set to return as James Bond's boss in the upcoming 007 film, Quantum of Solace.
