Journalist Elisabeth Bumiller returned to The New York Times after taking a leave to pen a biography on Condoleezza Rice. She was previously the paper's White House correspondent and City Hall bureau chief. She's also author of two other books: The Secrets of Mariko and May You Be the Mother of a Hundred Sons. Bumiller was a public policy scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center and, before joining the Times, was with The Washington Post, in roles that included Tokyo and New Delhi correspondents.

Time's Washington bureau chief Jay Carney has been writing about politics for the magazine since '93. He's written extensively about the Bush presidency and was one of a handful of journalists who were on Air Force One with the president on 9/11. He has unprecedented access to VP Cheney and most other senior advisors. Carney previously served as deputy Washington bureau chief, a correspondent in the Moscow bureau and as Miami bureau chief. He's also served as a special correspondent for CNN.

Michel Martin has been a journalist for more than 25 years. The host of NPR's Tell Me More previously reported for ABC News, including the newsmagazine Day One, and won an Emmy for her coverage of the international campaign to ban the use of landmines. She's worked for The Washington Post and Wall Street Journal and hosted the innovative Life 360, a partnership between Oregon Public Broadcasting and Nightline. Martin was a regular on PBS' Washington Week and a contributor to NOW with Bill Moyers.
