Mickey Rourke made a long climb back to the acting business. He grew up in Miami's tough Liberty City area, where he learned to box, and has been both an amateur and pro in the sport. Once he decided to pursue acting, he launched his career with small roles before garnering attention in the film Body Heat. After gaining a reputation as a perfectionist, he became disillusioned and took a break from acting. Rourke has returned to critical acclaim, winning a best actor Golden Globe award and an Oscar nod for his lead turn in The Wrestler.
