Tavis Smiley focused on the childhood obesity epidemic, particularly within communities of color. Smiley examined causes and effects and explored ways to address this health care crisis.
His guests included: Dr. Antronette Yancey, co-founder of UCLA's Center for Health Equity and a leading voice in the U.S. on the issue of childhood obesity; Dr. Elaine Batchlor, chief medical officer for the L.A. Care Health Plan, the largest healthcare plan of its kind in the U.S.; Elizabeth Medrano, with the Healthy School Food Coalition at Occidental College's Center for Food & Justice in Los Angeles, where she helps to reshape healthier school lunch menus; and Dr. Michael Roizen, co-founder of RealAge and of RealAge.com and chief wellness officer at The Cleveland Clinic.
