Newt Gingrich
Former Speaker of the House
[Health care is] more expensive than it needs to be. And we think there are ways to actually take a lost of that cost out of the system.
Q: How should the health care system be fixed?
Don't try to pass one single bill. This is the largest sector of the economy, 14%. Every seventh dollar in our gross domestic product is in health. It's life and death. It's very, very complicated.
Q: Why doesn't every American have the right to universal health care coverage?
Every American should want to ensure that every other American is part of the health system because you're gonna pay for it sooner or later. And if they don't have insurance coverage and they don't get preventative care and they don't get a diagnosis, they're gonna be more expensive.
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is CEO of The Gingrich Group and an analyst for the Fox News Channel. He's the author of several books, including Saving Lives and Saving Money, on the health care crisis.
