What Do You Think?

"Aging Out?"

The child welfare system turns away 20,000 young people each year when they turn 18. Recent studies have found that these youths are more likely than their peers to become pregnant, homeless, unemployed, and suffer from mental illness.

What should state agencies do when foster children reach age 18?

Release them from foster care and discontinue all services

Continue providing services while they’re still in school or until age 21

Provide a transitional “Independent Living” program

Help them secure a job and apartment

Other/none of the above

(I've already taken the poll and want to see the results.)

Stay tuned for a schedule of online discussions with Road to Health experts.
