Where's the Love America?
Posted by Sean Nixon, September 24, 2009 4:15 PM

A couple of weeks ago, I was reading an article by Robin Abcarian of the Los Angeles Times. In the article, she mentioned how some of the recent outbursts and other unfortunate moments of bad judgment left her to question whether Americans have lost a real sense of civility.

With all that we've seen lately of people losing their cool and outright disrespecting others in public, I have to say she makes a good point. It seems as though somewhere between cable networks showcasing shouting matches as prime time features to adults acting like children at events, it's safe to question whether we've lost a piece of our compassion towards others.

Given the amount of chaos and concern throughout the world right now, I'm sure there are tons of issues worth getting passionate about. I just don't think places like award shows or presidential speeches are quite the venue for it.

I'd like to know if these recent outbursts are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what to expect when it comes to people's emotions getting the better of them. For now, I guess we'll all just have to wait and see.
