These days everyone is cutting back on their expenses. The same is true for those looking to get married in these tough financial times.
The recession has definitely impacted the way weddings today are being financed. People are not spending thousands of dollars anymore, and, in return, are getting more creative with planning ceremonies
A buddy of mine is looking to get married. He was surprised to see that the number of courthouse marriages have really gone up over the past few years. For him, it was a definite sign of the times that couples today are choosing to save money and spend wisely.
One piece of advice I shared with him is that weddings are about more than extravagant parties. A wedding is about bringing together two people who love each other, and that anything you do with your significant other is always memorable.
I think the gift of sound financial planning will make for a wonderful wedding gift for my friend's soon-to-be bride. In addition to having a wonderful ceremony, he can rest assured, knowing that his good planning actually paid off.
To all you lovebirds out there, just remember, money isn't everything, and there is always a way to get married in a financial, reasonable way.
