Mark Sanford: Stay in office?
by Sean Nixon

Gov. Mark Sanford of South Carolina continues to serve as the state governor amid a public scandal.

I have to say South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford really should step down. I'm not looking to paint him in a negative light either. Yes, he admitted to having an affair with another woman, and many people were probably hurt by his news.

As human beings, we all make mistakes, and sometimes we learn and grow from them.

However, with a huge economic recession taking place and Gov. Sanford saying he'd reject any federal stimulus money that came to his state, it doesn't leave too many folks with a warm and fuzzy place in their hearts.

At this point, it's a huge question of his judgment, which I'd imagine most people in South Carolina don't have a great deal of faith in right now. Scandals happen to public officials. My only hope, however, is that if one does engage in such activities, that they be willing to step aside and let others take the reigns during difficult periods.

Should Gov. Sanford resign from office?
