Happy new year!

It's 2009 and we're back. This year we begin taping the - geebus - 35th season of Austin City Limits. That's a landmark by any television standard, let alone one for a music show. 35 years old - we're just hitting our prime, right?

In the meantime, keep an eye on the shelves of your favorite DVD seller, as the Calexico episode of ACL will be released on Jan. 20 via New West Records, as usual featuring songs not included in the TV broadcast. I was on the fence about Calexico until I saw this performance - it's one of my favorites of recent years. If you're a fan, you'll love it. If you're not, you will be once you see it. (We hope.) Check it out when it's released.
