Dennis Holloway on Training (Part 2)

I had a guy yesterday who has been here three weeks, he told me he doesn't think this is what he is cut out to do. He had two years of college and I sort of agreed with him. His heart wasn't in it and it showed in his work. He was here off a job on Wall Street, and he thought maybe he'd like to work with his hands. And it turned out it isn't the trade for him. Some guys can cut and some guys can't cut it. But we give everyone an equal shot here. It is up to the individual.

My dad started out as a bricklayer and then he went into the restoration field. Basically, you had to do all the mixing for them. I would strike the wall for him. It was like, don't touch the brick yet. You learned by being out there and you had to do all the stuff that no one wants to do. That's the stuff that you did. And then when you got a chance to lay a brick you were going to try to lay it right. Because that was your ultimate goal.
