"I just finished watching the Memorial Day Concert and could not be more pleased or moved .it made my own service more memorable and worth the time I did in service to our country. It's individuals such as all of you that bring comfort to the Veterans of this country though the tributes and honors you bestow upon us."

Remembering Our Fallen

Sharing Legacy Stories

There is no time limit one can put on grief, yet there are ways to honor and celebrate the lives and legacies of those we have lost.  By sharing stories of our loved ones and taking comfort in the recollections shared by others we awaken the spirit of remembrance and healing that marks Memorial Day.

The National Memorial Day Concert website is honored to house the “Remembering Our Fallen” Initiative, a “virtual wall” of remembrance featuring personal stories about our nation’s service men and women who answered the call of duty and were injured or gave their lives for our country.

Written remembrances in the form of a letter, story, eulogy or even a poem can be posted.  We also invite you to submit video tributes or photographs of loved ones on this “virtual wall.”  Share their stories with us.  Visit the “Share & Read Remembrances” section to find out how.

Ted Wade and his fiancée Sarah before Ted's deployment to AfghanistanVeterans, those of you who have served our country have a valuable legacy to share.  Each veteran’s experience with war is an important part of history that should be passed on to future generations.  If you have a veteran in your family, consider asking them about their experience.  Visit the “Veterans, Share Your Story” section to learn more.

This and past National Memorial Day Concerts focus on meaningful and representative stories of the sacrifices of our service members and their families. Read a selection of these stories from previous concerts.
