Stories from america’s conflicts

Read and Submit A Eulogy

Sharing memories of our loved ones is the best tribute we can make to them. Each year we invite all those who lost a spouse, a child, a parent, another relative or a friend to use this space to write a eulogy, remembrance, prayer or poem in their honor. We also invite you to share your own story of grief over the loss of a loved one.

Click to your left to read past years submissions of those fallen in one of America’s conflicts.

For those who request it, we hand-carry your eulogies and remembrances directly to the appropriate memorial site – the World War II Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, the Vietnam War Memorial or Arlington National Cemetery – for the fallen buried there and for those who have fallen in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. At these sacred sites, Reverend Steve Hyde, PhD, and other members of the clergy will offer prayerful words in a ceremony designed to honor and respect your loved one.

In addition, we post some of your submissions on this website because we feel it is so important to share your stories.  Please indicate on your submission form whether we have your permission to post and/or deliver your remembrance.

Each year after the National Memorial Day Concert, we carefully read every single one of the submitted messages. Your submissions are deeply moving and inspire us to continue producing the National Memorial Day Concert.  Thank you for sharing such precious eulogies, remembrances and prayers with us and for helping to put the “memory” back into Memorial Day.

REFLECTIONS

“Thank you, James, for your ultimate sacrifice you made for your country.  It was your dedication as a soldier and man that helped me through that terrible year in Nam.  Soldiers like you are what make our freedoms so special.  I thank God for people like you and will make sure your sacrifices will never be forgotten.”
