The JOURNAL on Afghanistan

When President Obama announced major policy initiatives for Afghanistan his decisions did not please everyone. Obama was faced with a request from military leaders for a substantial increase in troop levels, questions about the current Afghan leadership, and waning public support for the war. And recent news from Afghanistan hasn't gotten better. In the wake of the bombing which killed a number of CIA agents, Major General Michael Flynn released a report on flaws in intelligence in Afghanistan. JOURNAL guest Rory Stewart updated his take on U.S. policy in January 14, 2010 article "Afghanistan: What Could Work" in THE NEW YORK REVIEW OF BOOKS.

Below you can view the JOURNAL's ongoing coverage of American involvement in Afghanistan — from the effectiveness of strategic bombing to voices from journalists, aid workers and foreign policy experts. You will also find a link to FRONTLINE's new documentary on Afghanistan, titled "Obama's War."
