Yellowstone Memories
Over the past 20 years, I have had the pleasure of visiting many of this nation's amazing national parks. My most memorable visit was to Yellowstone National Park in 2006. As an elementary science teacher, I was impressed with the great variety of geological wonders that can be found in that park's environs. I was able to view vast canyons, beautiful waterfalls, vast travertine rock formations, bubbling mud pots, and explosive geysers. By far, however, the most impressive thing I saw was the Grand Prismatic Spring. Located in the Midway Geyser Basin, it ranks as the largest hot spring in the United States. Deposits of algae color the spring in the hues of the rainbow. Being able to see this beautiful example of nature at its best was the highlight of my trip to Yellowstone, and well worth the two thousand-mile trek from Baton Roug

My husband and I tell each other every year that Yellowstone is one national park we simply MUST GET TO! It is on our "bucket list" along with a few others like Bryce and Zion, although we have both been to those two parks before.

Made my 1st visit to Yellowstone/Grand Teton back in May and was in total awe of both parks, how there would be snow one minute then clear fields the next due to the diff. elevations. Don't think we drove the posted speed limit we were enjoying the parks so much, wanted to take everything in. Stopping to watch the elks watch us was amazing, they just stood there looking at us while we took picture after picture from our car. Going back for sure, the sooner the better.

While finishing college in Western New York, some friends and I had the idea to go work in Yellowstone for a summer. Although we waited tables in a restaurant, our back yard was the Lower Falls in Canyon. Rather than another suburb being 20 minutes away, Yellowstone Lake was there. It was an experience that helped define me. I met so many great people that summer! Whenever I meet people and they want to know about my life, I never fail to mention that amazing summer. Can't wait to watch!!
