Bags of unwashed clothes dumped beside the washing machine. Strangers in your freshly cleaned living room propped up on your couch and crowded around your TV. Congratulations, not only did your daughter and son graduate from college, but now they have comfortably situated themselves back into your house. Now, they must wade their way through a questionable job market.
To help move them out of the house, I mean, move things along, would you ask your boss about possible positions at your company?
I recall the days after getting my undergraduate degree as a tug a war with my parents. In my last year of college, I decided I wanted to pursue a career in journalism. Needless to say, my parents were ticked off after shelling out a good portion of their salary for my education. My mother had lined up a few interviews relevant to my major for me a week after I graduated (yes, she was that type); and my father, a military vet, made a bold suggestion. He thought that I should join the army because, apparently, I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. So, it doesn't surprise me parents would go and have gone as far as asking their bosses to help their kids. I know this happens. We all do.
One company I've read about has taken note, but is offering the type of assistance that would only help with getting your college grad off the couch. Astellas Pharma U.S. is offering job hunting help to employees' children and other family members. A company spokeswoman told the Wall Street Journal about the program. Apparently, the company offered a full day workshop that involved job search counseling, networking, advice, and general guidance on building a career.
Is this something that you would like to see occur at your job? How and why do you think it will help? If you're an employer what type of help are you offering your employees' families?

I never thought that the United States would be financed to the tune of trillions of dollars by China while The U.S is almost at 15% unemployment. General Motors is opening new plants in china that compete because they have a healthcare safety net already over 100 thousand people are employed in the solar energy industry in china all covered by national healthcare. In japan they live 24 years longer because of national healthcare. In the U.S if u r rich u can get a transplant and the best healthcare in the world. If u r not rich u can die waiting for basic healthcare. Imagine how much more productive americans would be if they had 24 more years to live due to basic healthcare for all. G.M. would not be bankrupt if it didn't have to pay for private healthcare niether would many other businesses large and small If we take other countries money and trade we should take their benefits too. We use more energy than any country in the world from countries who hate us why don't we use renewable energy from China and Japan it would bring down the demand for oil and dirty coal which will soon have a toxic effect on all americans water systems. maybe we should put a member of the presidents cabinet from other countries which are leading the world in energy and healthcare as well as other industries so we can stop the high joblessness.
We claim to lead the world with freedom yet we have the highest rate of prison population per capita in the world. maybe we should think of how to cut down the drug and crime rate. a cabinet position or at least a czar or two to address these devastating issues before america is left behind in its peoples standard of living.
