Scott is Nightly Business Report's New York Bureau Chief. He's known for his prowess in covering the day's top business news and also for his knowledge of technology.
Recently, Scott received an EMMY award from the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences for outstanding extended coverage of a business story, 2005, as part of the NBR team responsible for a special series of reports detaling China's emergence as an international economic power.
Scott reported and produced two award-winning special editions of NBR. Scott's "Log on to Investing: The NBR Guide for PC Users" won the American-University-Investment Company Institute Award for Excellence in Financial Journalism (1999). His "Net Effect: Business in the Connected World" was honored by the Computer Press Association (1997).
Scott started with Nightly Business Report in 1982 doing freelance stories and earned his present title in 1989. A twelve year veteran of the CBS and NBC owned and operated stations in Chicago, Scott is the winner of four Emmy awards from the Chicago Chapter of NATAS and a duPont-Columbia Award. He has an MBA from the University of Chicago, an MS in Journalism from Columbia University, and an AB in Politics from Princeton University.
Scott's "Tech-Talk" reports, featuring technology news and new product reviews, appear regularly on NBR.
