Connie Hicks

CONNIE HICKS is one of two reporters assigned to NBR's "Get Your Finances Ready for Retirement" series.

Connie is an accomplished journalist with twenty-five years of experience as a television reporter in Miami, Rhode Island, and Minneapolis. While an investigative reporter at Miami's WPLG-10, her reporting on government, law, and social issues earned her two Emmy Awards as well as awards from the Associated Press, the American Bar Association, Lincoln University (for minority issues), and Crime Stoppers. She was also the first female news anchor at Miami's WSVN Channel 7.

In the course of her television news career, Connie covered riots, hurricanes, death row, public corruption, trials, and also reported from Cuba and Haiti. Since 2004, she has been Associate Professor and Professional in Residence at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida.
