GAIL MARKSJARVIS is an award-winning personal finance columnist for the Chicago Tribune and the author of Saving for Retirement without Living Like a Pauper or Winning the Lottery (Prentice Hall). Her columns are read by millions coast to coast and appear in cities ranging from Baltimore to Orlando, Los Angeles and Minneapolis. Among her many honors, she has been named "Best Financial Columnist" by Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism.
MarksJarvis wrote her book in response to readers who have called her over the last 10 years with frustrations over investing money. In the book, she guides people step-by-step through investing practices used by professionals in simple language anyone can understand. She assures readers that saving doesn't have to be painful and investing doesn't have to be rocket science.
MarksJarvis is a former reporter for public radio's "Marketplace" program and USA Today and has been an advisor to the University of Minnesota School of Journalism. She currently serves on the board of governors for the Society of American Business Editors and Writers.
