LAURA UNGER is the former acting chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission. She served as SEC Commissioner from November 1997 until February 2002. That tenure included a six-month stint as Acting Chairman of the agency – from February through August 2001. After resigning her Commissioner seat, Ms. Unger joined CNBC as Regulatory Expert, where she provided televised commentary about business, financial and market-related issues. Ms. Unger continues to provide on-air commentary about regulatory and enforcement matters for CNBC and other financial news programs, including NBC’s Today’s Show, The News with Brian Williams, Wall Street Week, Lou Dobbs’ Moneyline, and the Nightly Business Report.
