PBS' Nightly Business Report Wins Prestigious Gerald Loeb Award

Honored in Television Daily Category for "India's Promise"

Miami, FL (July 3, 2008) -- Nightly Business Report took top honors at this year's Gerald Loeb Awards in the television daily category for their series, "India's Promise." The Loeb Awards were established in 1957 at UCLA's Anderson School of Management to honor journalists who make significant contributions to the understanding of business, finance and the economy. NBR's winning four-part series explored the rise of India's economy, providing a first-hand look at the implications of the country's rapid development. The series was produced by NBR's Steve Washington, Darren Gersh, Dana Greenspon and Sanjay Jha (Jha is the first Indian to win a Loeb Award).

Praising the series, the UCLA Anderson School of Management had this to say:

"With outstanding use of visuals and a unique approach to storytelling, this four-part series explored the rise of India's economy; providing a first-hand look at the implications of the country's rapid development. The stories were distinctive in the way that they visualized, humanized and personalized economic stories, showing the enormity and diversity of India's population. This was an outstanding series from Nightly Business Report that demonstrated how enterprising broadcast journalism can lead to a better understanding of international economic issues."

"We are thrilled and humbled by being selected for this tremendous honor," said Nightly Business Report Executive Editor Rodney Ward. "We're incredibly proud of our dedicated reporters, producers and talented production staff. Not only did their portrayal of today's India offer an enlightening and wide-ranging look into international economic issues, it did so in a way that ultimately helped us better understand one another as people."

The awards ceremony took place June 30th in New York City, where journalists from across the nation gathered to recognize their own. The Loeb Awards are among the highest honors in journalism, recognizing the work of journalists whose contributions illuminate the world of business, finance and the economy for readers and viewers around the world.
