To successfully navigate life, children need to learn some essential skills. One of the most important is financial literacy. Kids need to know how to handle money. Yet, many American kids never learn the ABC's of money. In "Kids & Cash," NBR reports on the sad state of financial literacy in the U.S. and offers tips on teaching financial basics to young people.

Money, math, & finance games for kids:
The PBS Kids website offers many games designed to teach kids important information and skills. A number of the games deal with money, finance, and math. They are great companions to NBR’s “Kids & Cash” special, and we offer links to them below.
Clifford The Big Red Dog - Measuring Up In this game, Clifford and his friends teach kids about size relationships. Cyberchase - Know Your Dough Cyberchase has dedicated an entire section of its website to fun money and math activities. Cyberchase - Numbersense Numbersense is a numbers game that challenges kids to work with numbers. Cyberchase - Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Half This game teaches kids how to use fractions. Don't Buy It - Get Media Smart! This site uses quizzes and other fun methods to teach kids about advertising tricks and costs. Dragon Tales - Connect the Dots Kids can connect the numbered dots to draw pictures of Dragon Tales characters. It's My Life - Mad Money Mad Money lets kids pick an item they want to buy. But, before they can buy the item, they need to earn and save the money to pay for it. Jakers - Egg Collector Kids can practice their counting skills as they help Piggley collect eggs. Jay Jay the Jet Plane - Tracy's Matching Game Kids can practice their counting skills by matching pictures to numbers. Reading Rainbow - Hidden Picture Math Game This game lets kids test their addition and subtraction skills. Reading Rainbow - Make a Really Big Number This game challenges kids to work with numbers greater than a thousand. Sagwa - Counting Koi Kids can count fish with Sagwa the cat.
