Brookings

Brookings is a nonprofit public policy research organization. This links to a November 13, 2007 article published on the Brookings website. The article is titled, "Q&A on International Financial Markets and the IMF." While written before the current crisis reached its height, the article still offers some valuable information about the foundations of international finance.

HBS Working Knowledge

HBS Working Knowledge is the online business journal of Harvard School of Business. This links to a September 29, 2008 article published in the journal titled, "Financial Crisis Caution Urged by Faculty Panel."

International Monetary Fund (IMF)

The IMF promotes monetary cooperation, exchange stability, and orderly exchange arrangements; fosters economic growth; and provides temporary financial assistance to countries to help ease balance of payments adjustment. This links to a November 1999 presentation given at an IMF conference. The presentation is titled, "The Role of Financial Regulation in a World of Deregulation and Market Forces." The presentation offers a lot of basic information -- including a vocabulary list -- about financial regulation.

Peterson Institute for International Economics (PDF Document)

The Pereson Institute is "private, nonprofit, nonpartisan research institution devoted to the study of international economic policy." This links to an October 7, 2008 speech given by Morris Goldstein of the Peterson Institute. The speech is titled "Addressing the Financial Crisis."

RGE Monitor

RGE Monitor is is an economic analysis firm headed by Nouriel Roubini,
a professor of economics at NYU's Stern School of Business. This links to a November 3, 2008 entry in the firm's Global EconoMonitor blog. The entry is titled, "A Brief Guide to Fixing Finance: The Brookings Financial Restructuring Project."

U.S. Department of Treasury

U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) (PDF Document)

The mission of the GAO "is to help improve the performance and assure the accountability of the federal government for the benefit of the American people." . This linkst to a March 2007 report issued by the GAO titled, Financial Market Regulation - Agencies Engaged in Consolidated Supervision Can Strengthen Performance Measurement and Collaboration."
