Last Word: The Dangers of Darts

Friday, February 24, 2006

LINDA O`BRYON: Finally tonight, as the world watches the Olympics, there is another international sports situation brewing in the Netherlands. Officials there say sports injuries are on the rise as more and more Dutch citizens take up darts. Dutch darts players have been racking up victories on the world circuit, spurring their countrymen and women to take up the sport. But Dutch doctors report a rash of pierced fingers and wrists, as well as head and foot injuries caused when poorly hung dartboards fall off walls. And consumer advocates in the Netherlands are also urging players who take up the game to refrain from hurling darts before opponents have finished retrieving theirs Paul.

KANGAS: You make a very good point.
