"Last Word"-The New Text Titan
Monday, July 31, 2006SUSIE GHARIB: And finally tonight, all you blackberry users, just try to beat this. Utah teenager Ben Cook has won the world`s speed text messaging title. He did it by managing to send a 160-character message in a little over 42 seconds. And the text wasn`t so simple. It deliberately contained words that are tough to type and tough to pronounce. The "text-off" contest was sponsored by a mobile phone company, and Cook`s feat will now be submitted to the folks at the Guinness book of records. And Paul, this is Cook`s second time with this title. He set a world record two years ago, but was beaten last year by a woman from Singapore, who obviously was all thumbs and that`s a compliment.
KANGAS: Tom Thumb would have been proud.
