"Last Word"-Mona Lisa's Mystery

SUSIE GHARIB: And finally , one of the world`s most mysterious women has finally given up one of her secrets, with some help. Scientists studying Leonardo da Vinci`s "Mona Lisa" said it appears she had just given birth to her second son, when she sat for the painting. The scientists used special three-dimensional technology to scrutinize both sides of the 16th century masterpiece. It helped them discover that Mona Lisa`s dress is covered in a thin, transparent gauze veil typical of the kind worn in 16th century Italy by new mothers. It had never been seen before because the painting is dark and difficult to examine. Jeff, the woman with the half smile has been identified as the wife of a Florentine merchant.
