"Last Word"-National Bike To Work Day
Friday, May 16, 2008JEFF YASTINE: And finally, today is "national bike to work day." It's designed to raise awareness of the cost effectiveness of cycling as a mode of transportation. Record-high gas prices may prompt more people to pedal to work this year. Cities from coast to coast took part in today's energy- friendly event. Studies have shown more than half of all Americans live less than five miles from their place of work, a reasonable distance to travel by bicycle. And Susie, next week as part of our series "Pain at the Pump," I'll introduce you to a man who says soaring gas prices drove him to make the switch to two wheels altogether.
