Bring Asia to Your Classroom from NIGHTLY BUSINESS REPORT, Television's Most Watched Daily Business News Program* This free series of videos and lesson plans for educators is designed to help you incorporate NBR's Asia coverage in current events, geography, social studies and other high school subjects.
How It WorksNightly Business Report Tokyo correspondent Lucy Craft filed reports on various aspects of the Japanese economy. Her reports, which ran 2 to 3 minutes each, covered everything from the state of business to the Pokemon electronic game craze. Thanks to a grant from The Freeman Foundation, these reports were then assembled on a videotape. Four times a year -- October, December, February and April -- a new video was mailed to high school teachers who registered at this site. There was no charge for this service or for permission to show these videos to high school classes. To assist teachers in preparing lessons based on Lucy Craft's reports, Nightly Business Report also made lesson plans available on this website. Each lesson plan was compiled by a high school social studies instructor and was modeled after the "Dial-A-Teacher" format, with two pages of background information and another page of suggested classroom activities. While we no longer offer the videos, teachers are free to use any or all of these lesson plans...in whatever way they wish. * Source: National Neilsen ratings, November 2005 |
