It's official, local television stations are finally turning off their analog signals, but when the DTV transition began 10 years ago, the promises were much greater. As Stephanie Dhue reports its become more of a digital evolution rather than a revolution.![]()

DTV Answers is a website created by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) to answer consumer questions about the transition to digital television. - DTV.gov
Digital Television (DTV) is "an advanced broadcasting technology that will transform your television viewing experience. DTV enables broadcasters to offer television with better picture and sound quality. It can also offer multiple programming choices, called multicasting, and interactive capabilities." - Federal Communications Commission (FCC) The FCC is "an independent United States government agency. The FCC was established by the Communications Act of 1934 and is charged with regulating interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable. The FCC's jurisdiction covers the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. possessions."
- TV Converter Box Coupon Program
This U.S. Department of Commerce website offers information about the government coupon program designed to help Americans purchase converter boxes that will allow their analog televisions to work after the transition to digital in February 2009. This links directly to the coupon application form.
