Topic: Which is more important-the October Manifesto of 1905, or industrialization

This is only a quick reply as I dont hve much time. Your question cought my eye in the list & I had to say something. If you require any further comments, please contact me. (Remember this is all my oppinion with no evidence to back it up.)I think that both had an equally important influence on Russian life, just in different ways. Industrialisation was a relitivly slow and steady process. It improved communication and goods transportation throughout the country. It also helped the formation of different classes and new skills within society.The October manifesto basicly tided up the rough edges of the industrialisation process. But without it, it is my belife that industrialisation would not have succeded to the degree it did.(scuse my spelling!)

I suggest that industrialisation was more important as it meant there was a concentration of dissatisfied workers in St. Petersburg, makeing it possible for the 1917 revolution to happen, as in the first months they forced the Tsar to resign. Also, the October manifesto had no lasting effect on Russia as the Dumas it created had no real constitutional power. What do you think?
