This is only a quick reply as I dont hve much time. Your question
cought my eye in the list & I had to say something. If you require any
further comments, please contact me. (Remember this is all my oppinion
with no evidence to back it up.)I think that both had an equally
important influence on Russian life, just in different ways.
Industrialisation was a relitivly slow and steady process. It improved
communication and goods transportation throughout the country. It also
helped the formation of different classes and new skills within
society. The October manifesto basicly tided up the rough edges of the
industrialisation process. But without it, it is my belife that
industrialisation would not have succeded to the degree it did.(scuse
my spelling!)
Subject: Which it more important-the October manifesto of 1905 or industrialisation? From: Anna Date: 04 Apr 2002 8:56 AM
I suggest that industrialisation was more important as it meant there
was a concentration of dissatisfied workers in St. Petersburg, makeing
it possible for the 1917 revolution to happen, as in the first months
they forced the Tsar to resign. Also, the October manifesto had no
lasting effect on Russia as the Dumas it created had no real
constitutional power. What do you think?
