I am writing an essay on dictatorship vs. democracy. I am playing the devil's advocate and saying that dictatorship is better than democracy. I thought Russia would be a nice example, does anyone have any thoughts or comments on the issue?

Although there were problems, in many ways, however, ussr was better off than it is today....many people still wish that ussr should have never been broken apart. There are too many misconceptions regarding Ussr and Russia in US, and only the bad is viewed.

Was America better of as a group of colonies ruled by the English monarchy? No.It's really too early to speculate if Russia is better off as a democracy. But, Russia has vast resources, a highly educated/skilled workforce, and support from the West- so in time, their living standards and economy can only improve.

What sorry ass freedom ?I live in YO NITED STATES now and I came here from BiH former Yugoslavia.I really don't see any diference,or I don't feel any more freedom.Wealth is what is diferent.Politicaly is the same.If You are not one of "them" there is nothing You can really do.What we got here for choice at that ballot box isridicules. The fact that I can go out and badmouth president don't mean nothing to me.It's entertaiment for retarded people.Freedom would be only and only if you could take sirius poltical action withoutgeting killd like several Afro-American leaders, rock stars ect.Lately they started with bending TV shows,White house look like soap operaand pretty much everybody is on dope.Even this may sound naive but I'm herring this every day from fellow Americans-Take care of your own first!!!
