Subject: Top-Heavy Schools From: Kim Date: 06 Jun 2002 11:15 AM
Our schools today are too "top-heavy." We pay our superintendent's
beginning salaries of $100,000+ and give them additional allowances for
housing and vehicles. But, teachers begin at $30,000 and are lucky to
retire with $50,000 if they can last that long. Teachers deserve more
respect and more competitive salaries. No wonder we have a teacher
shortage.
Subject: About this site and teaching. From:Darlene Goodwin Date: 09 Sep 2002 10:31 PM
I just happened to stumble across this site and I was so happy to see a
place where those concerned about students could express concerns,
thoughts and ideas. I am a 3rd grade teacher dealing with a class
consisting of many english language learners. We need more support
from the districts, parents, volunteers etc. Sometimes I feel so
overwhelmed, however the children make it worth all the effort for what
seems like inadequate pay. I will post information about this site at
my school.
