Here's what has developed a child who eats (and always has eaten) regularly, willingly, in greater quantity and variety than any other peer we've come across: Consistent meal times, sit-down meals (no TV) with one or more people hopefully one parent or both) eating the same thing. Also, providing whole, simple foods with emphasis on vegetables (the most important foods we eat) and fruits; deemphasis on meats, carbohydrates and junk. Very little sodas or juices to spoil the appetite, lots of breastmilk while 1 1/2 yrs. and water later on. The book, Infant Nutrition by Dr. Marc Percival and his others are excellent. He will lead you through a step by step food introduction process that will identify and eliminate food sensitivities and educate about no-no's with early foods. Also contact La Leche League International (LLLI). There should be a local chapter or ask other Moms. Also, I talked to my baby every day about the whole eating thing--the food we were eating, why it was important, it's color, etc. everything to bring attention to the here and now of eating and how wonderful it is. Relax and do your homework. Also, it may be episodic.

they won't starve. I can not handle it when my 12 year old tells my 1 year old "yuck". Stop with the snacks--in between eatings and they will eventually eat. My kids won't eat anything I cook. I got tired of making seperate meals. I now cook what I want and what my husband wants. They are called one time for dinner and it is up to them to eat or not...they still do the dishes and clean the table regardless if they eat or not. My kids are aged 12, 9, 8 and 1. The 1 year old eats...at least for now.
