My daughter recently put my grandson in daycare after being with me for 2 years. His vocabulary is limited to a few words and he doesn't interact with the other children. He would rather play alone. He didn't even start to speak until he started daycare and now he counts from 1 to 10 and says alot of different words, but no sentences. They are concerned about his "independence" for lack of a better word. He will have circle time, where they sing songs and do different things, but if he doesn't want to do whatever they are doing, he will go off and play alone. We never had his hearing tested because he can hear everything we say to him. Its his lack of speech that they seem to be concerned about. What can i do to help him talk?
