A question from George Rippel:
If it is a violation of the law to accept contributions from a foreign entity why hasn't the justice department filed charges for based on the admitted violations of both democratic and republican groups?
Rep. Pappas responds:
It is my understanding that the Justice Department is looking into these allegations.
Rep. Tauscher responds:
It is my understanding that the Justice Department has an ongoing investigation into the campaign irregularities associated with the 1996 Presidential campaign. In addition, the House and Senate are both also in the process of conducting their own investigation into this entire situation.
