Congressman Johnson recently took a leading role in the Presidential summit on volunteerism in Philadelphia. He was one of only 10 members of Congress to be invited to participate in the summit. Richard Gephardt, House minority leader, said when selecting Johnson, "Jay Johnson has shown a deep commitment to community service in Northeast Wisconsin. Whether it is working with young people or helping victims of domestic abuse, Jay has demonstrated a volunteer spirit and a record of accomplishment that will serve our delegation well in Philadelphia."
Johnson also launched Web site on May 5. According to Johnson, the
site will serve as a "Virtual Congressional Office" for those constituents
who surf the Internet. His site was located at http://www.house.gov/jayjohnson/.
He also joined President Clinton in congratulating the Green Bay Packers on their Super Bowl victory.
