NewsHour Executive Producer Linda Winslow recognized by Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism for excellence in journalism

Linda Winslow, Executive Producer of The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer will be recognized for excellence in journalism when The Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism presents their Alumni Awards on Friday, April 19, 2007 at the Alumni Association’s annual spring meeting. Linda Winslow, a graduate of the class of ’67, is one of four alumni being honored this year.

Winslow’s association with Jim Lehrer and Robin MacNeil dates back to her role as producer for the National Public Affairs Center for Television (NPACT). She produced their seminal Watergate coverage in 1973 as well as PBS’s live coverage of the House Judiciary Committee’s Presidential Impeachment hearings, anchored by Jim Lehrer.

When Jim Lehrer and Robin MacNeil created the MacNeil/Lehrer Report in 1975, Linda Winslow was tapped as one of the program’s original producers. In 1978, Winslow was named vice president in charge of news and public affairs for WETA (Washington Educational Television Association), where she was responsible for PBS coverage of major news events in Washington as well as for the weekly series Washington Week in Review and The Lawmakers. Winslow was named executive producer of The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer in November 2005.

The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer is seen five nights a week on more than 315 PBS stations across the country (check local listings) and is also available online, via public radio in select markets and via podcast. The program is produced by MacNeil/Lehrer Productions, in association with WETA, Washington, DC and Thirteen/WNET in New York. Corporate funding for The NewsHour is provided by the Archer Daniels Midland Co.; the new AT&T; Chevron and Pacific Life, along with major funding from the Atlantic Philanthropies, the Park Foundation, the National Science Foundation, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and public television viewers.
