Among the 2009 Pulitzer Prizes winners in the Arts category announced today were Elizabeth Strout, who took home the prize for fiction for her book, “Olive Kitteridge,” and Lynn Nottage who won the drama prize for her play, “Ruined.”

Jeffrey Brown recently talked to two other winners in the category about their winning works. Poet W.S. Merwin, who was honored for his book “The Shadow of Sirius,” discussed poetry, memory and the natural world last December.

In February, Jeff talked to Annette Gordon-Reed after she won the National Book Award for “The Hemingses of Monticello: An American Family,” a deep look into the lives and relationships of the slaves and famous slave-owners who lived at Monticello.
