In another in our series about the Kennedy Center's Arabesque art festival, Jeffrey Brown profiles Egyptian musician Fathy Salama, who began playing the piano at age 6 and performing at Cairo clubs at 13. One day listening to American radio, he heard jazz and instantly fell in love. This piece aired Friday on the NewsHour. Link to the transcript and a downloadable audio version right here. More about Salama and a video of one of his performaces can be found here. |
