The works of celebrated director Mike Nichols are on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York during a two-week retrospective that closes May 4. The director's first film, "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf," and "The Graduate," which earned him an Academy Award, are among the films being shown. Nichols was already a familiar face in show business before launching his directing career, starring alongside comedian Elaine May in the late 1950s in a partnership known as Nichols & May. The pair later headlined on Broadway and recorded several best-selling comedy albums.

As part of the retrospective, MoMA hosted last week "Mike Nichols in Conversation." The panel was moderated by Rajendra Roy, MoMA's chief curator of film, and panelists included longtime Nichols collaborators: writers Nora Ephron, Buck Henry and Elaine May and actress Meryl Streep.
