Art:21, the documentary series about art and artists in the 21st-century, starts a new season tonight on PBS. Each episode is organized by a theme -- humor, romance, paradox. Tonight's show on 'compassion' profiles William Kentridge, Carrie Mae Weems and Doris Salcedo, three artists who consider the complicated emotional experiences and motivations of others (the pains and the pleasures) through their artwork.

Susan Sollins is the Curator and Executive Producer of Art:21. She joined us to give us a preview of the new season.

If you miss the premiere tonight, or if you'd like to watch it with other art fanatics, there are screenings of the fifth season being held all over the world. You can check the Art:21 calendar for a screening near you. You can also watch the first four seasons online here.

Watch a teaser of what's to come on the fifth season.
