In 1982, Durst was suspected of murdering his wife Kathie (played in the movie by Kirsten Dunst), when the young woman disappeared.Robert Durst was later suspected in the 2000 murder of a friend of his wife's, and was charged for the murder on a 71-year old man in Texas, but was found not guilty, serving jail time for simply dismembering the corpse.
