On Monday's NewsHour, Jeffrey Brown reports on the How Sweet the Sound choir competition, sponsored by Verizon. This year's event brought more than 12,000 gospel singers and fans to Washington, D.C., last month. We visited the members of the Greater Mount Calvary Men of Valor choir at their church in Washington, days before they competed for the title of Best Church Choir in America. According to Elder Cornelius Young, Minister of Music at Greater Mount Calvary, "Not only is the music inspirational, but the words you sing in gospel, they're life-changing."

The only all-male choir finalist sang Milton Brunson's "Available to You" and won the competition's National People's Choice Award and a $5,000 prize.

The Voices of Destiny choir from the Greater Zion Church Family in Compton, Calif., took home the top prize of Best Church Choir and a check for $25,000 for its performance of Kurt Carr's "My Time for God's Favor."
