The work of Kevin "Kal" Kallaugher, the longtime editorial cartoonist for the Economist, is the subject of an exhibit at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco.

This exhibition, "Drawn From The Economist: The Editorial Art of KAL," features more than 40 of Kal's favorite cartoons from his 30 years at the London-based weekly magazine, during which he has published approximately 3,000 cartoons, including 120 covers.

Art Beat talked to Kal during his visit to museum about his work and about what makes for a good cartoon:

The exhibition runs through March 11. You can also see more of Kal's work at his website and at the Economist.
