We write to make suffering endurable, evil intelligible, justice desirable and love possible.
--Roger Rosenblatt

Roger Rosenblatt -- novelist, playwright, journalist, and, of course, for many years, essayist for the NewsHour -- is also a professor at Stony Brook University, where he teaches writing. His latest book, "Unless It Moves The Human Heart: The Craft and Art of Writing," is a memoir based on a semester in a class he teaches called "Writing Everything."

Monday on the NewsHour, Jeffrey Brown interviewed Roger Rosenblatt about his advice to writers. You can read the transcript of their conversation here.

Roger is also taking your questions about writing. You can submit them as comments on this page, or you can email us. We'll post his answers soon. Editor's note: We are no longer taking questions. You can read Roger Rosenblatt's responses here.

Editor's note: Rosenblatt was on the NewsHour last year to talk about his book, "Making Toast." You can find that conversation here. We are no longer taking questions. You can read Roger Rosenblatt's responses here.
